About Widal Test (Typhoid)
The Widal test checks for antibodies against Salmonella typhi, the bacteria responsible for typhoid fever, and remains a commonly ordered test in Pakistan when a patient presents with prolonged fever.
Because antibody levels take about a week to rise after infection begins, timing matters. Testing too early in the illness can give a falsely low reading, so your doctor may ask you to repeat it if the first result does not match your symptoms.
